Dear <<First Name>>,
I am emailing you to share some updates about new research produced by, and recognitions bestowed on, the Brexit Institute, which I hope may be of some interest.
To begin with, in terms of recognition, I am pleased to draw your attention to the fact that today, Friends of Europe, with the endorsement of Pat Cox (former President of the European Parliament) has kindly nominated me as a European Young Leader, under 40, for 2022. This programme connects high-flying young leaders throughout Europe, to build bonds across nationalities, areas of work as well as different political and ideological viewpoints and develop a more forward-thinking Europe. And needless to say it is a honor for me to be part of it.
In addition, in terms of research, I also want to draw your attention to some recent outputs we produced. For those of you who read Italian, this includes my new short book "Next Generation EU: Il futuro di Europa e Italia dopo la pandemia", recently published by il Mulino, Bologna, with a Preface by Paschal Donohoe (Minister of Finance of Ireland and President of the Eurogroup). The book examines the Next Generation EU recovery plan, and discusses its consequences for both the future of the EU generally, and of Italy specifically. In fact, since Italy receives almost 1/3 of the NGEU funds by itself, the facility has particular importance there -- and this is why the book was written in Italian.
On top of this, please take a look also at the most recent analyses and commentaries on EU affairs produced by the Brexit Institute's staff and our partners, including:
  • the blog by Christy Petit and myself on the French Presidency of the Council of the EU.
  • the blog by Edoardo Celeste on the European Commission Declaration of Digital Rights.
  • the blog by Ciaran O'Driscoll on Russian military drills in the Irish Sea.
  • the blog by Zoltan Fleck on the incoming Hungarian elections.
  • the blog by Maciej Bernatt on the strategic non enforcement of competition law in backsliding democracies.
  • and the blog by Ronan McCrea on the rule of law crisis and values in the EU.
I hope the above will provide for an interesting reading. As ever, thank you for your attention and support.
Yours
Federico
